Where It Started
Two engineers walk into a garden
…isn't exactly where this story begins. Justin and I met at the University of Queensland. He was studying aerospace and I was mechanical engineering. Since then, our careers have taken us to some interesting places. Justin went deep into the space industry, launching rockets with Rocket Lab. I focused on the delivery and implementation of complex systems with Boeing.
So, why are two engineers who have worked on rocket launches and defence systems suddenly interested with composting?
The Origin
It started with Justin’s wife, Sarah. A doctor and an avid gardener, she identified a fundamental challenge in composting: it’s manual, it’s messy, and it’s hard to maintain with a busy schedule.

The Approach
We aren’t here to over-complicate nature. We’re here to remove the friction. By applying our experience in complex systems, we’re wanting to strip away the "composting barrier". We want to make the process easy for everyone, from the master gardener to the person who has never considered composting before.
Why RE:GARDEN?
We’ll be the first to admit it: we know a lot about complex systems, but we are still learning the science of composting. But that’s exactly why we’re doing this. We want to change the narrative through technology. Our goal is to solve Sarah’s challenges, including the mess, the labor, and the guesswork, to make composting accessible for everyone.
Accessibility through Simplicity
Our "Why" is rooted in making sustainability simple. Right now, I have no idea how to compost effectively. But with the products we’re developing, I’m confident even I can do it successfully. If we can build a tool that works for "non-gardeners" like me, hopefully it will work for you too.
Join us on our journey. We’ll keep you updated as we make composting easier, one prototype at a time.
